Chicago Architectural Memorabilia with Photographs and Hancock Tower Maquette
Chicago Memorabilia, including two black and white framed photographs and an aluminium maquette of the Hancock Tower in Chicago. The Chicago skyline photograph taken from Lake Michigan shows the Hancock Tower, the Playboy Club and the Drake, 38 × 26 in.; a photograph of Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley with a child holding a teddy bear is autographed “To Peter Benton, Sincerely, Richard J. Daley”, also includes and additional dedication “To Peter Benton- It’s nice that a little bit of the best of Boston came to Chicago – George W. B__,” 19 × 19 in.; the maquette, possibly created by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, is an aluminum model on a granite base 35 3/4 × 13 1/4 × 10 1/4 in. The Hancock Tower is a 100 story skyscraper that was completed in 1968 and briefly held the record for being the world’s tallest building outside of New York City. It is currently the 8th tallest building in the U.S.
