Early Meiji Japanese Teppo Squid Form Boxwood Chago or Teascoop
Carved boxwood Chago or tea scoop in the form of a grumpy, squid. Early Meiji era, circa 1870–1880. Japanese inscription on the reverse translates to Teppo; or carved by Teppo. Includes the collector’s wood storage box bearing a gold paper label that translates to Ika Chago or boxwood squid tea scoop.
